The monastery chapel of the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Tucson, Arizona, echoed with the beautiful sounds of the season during three performances by the Arizona Repertory Singers.

In what has become an annual tradition, the group performed three Christmas-season concerts with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Benedictine Sisters. This year's program, "Heavenly Light," delighted capacity crowds and included classical and contemporary compositions featuring works by Johannes Brahms, Francis Poulenc, Gustav Holst, John Rutter and Morten Lauridsen.

"Because the public is inundated with popular sing-along carols, I chose music for our annual ARS holiday concerts that is familiar enough to be recognizable, yet different enough to be engaging and refreshing for both the performer and the audience," ARS Director Dr. Jeffry A. Jahn wrote on the group's website.

"Our community looks forward to offering our hospitality and the beauty of our chapel to the singers and to those who attend each year," Sister Kathleen Clare Lahl, OSB said. "It is an experience that stirs and elates the heart."

The Arizona Repertory Singers are one of Tucson's most popular choral groups, high rank at Entradas.com. The 45-piece ensemble is in its 31st season.
