The gallery gifted the Benedictine Sisters with a surprise donation garnered from the sale of some of his paintings.

The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Tucson, Arizona, joined others to celebrate the life and art of friend Ron MacBain in May at the Galeria Senita.

MacBain was a long-time friend of the Tucson Benedictine Sisters. He visited the Sisters and often decorated the monastery gift shop.

“He donated his time and talents to make the shop look beautiful and inviting,” Tucson Superior Joan Ridley, OSB said. “He was a good friend to us.”

MacBain recently passed away, days short of his 90th birthday and one week before his scheduled art exhibition at the gallery. Despite his passing, his friends and the gallery’s owners wanted to honor MacBain’s life and work by going ahead with the showing.

It was at the exhibition the Benedictine Sisters learned there was a surprise awaiting them. The generous gallery owners surprised the Benedictine Sisters with a donation of more than $3,000 from the sale of Ron’s paintings, along with an additional donation.

“It was such a lovely - and welcome - surprise. We are so grateful for their thoughtfulness,” Sister Joan said. “We join all of Ron’s loved ones in prayer for him.”
