Nursing assistant

The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration are seeking a CNA/NA for a full-time night shift at Our Lady or Rickenbach health care facility. Click here to apply!

Benefits: Full-time employment includes the following benefits: health insurance after 60 days of employment, dental and vision after 90 days, PTO after six months, 403(b) retirement savings and employer contributions after one year, and optional AFLAC. The Benedictine Sisters pay 100 percent of medical and dental benefits (i.e. monthly premiums) for full-time employees.

Responsible to: Nursing Supervisor, Sister Administrator, Charge Nurse

Job Summary

Care of the Sister residents' physical, emotional and social needs. Helps patient by supporting personal hygiene and daily living needs, and monitors vital signs.

Essential Functions

  • Physical care of Sisters including showers, oral care, hair care and toileting;
  • Emotional care of Sisters including encouraging independence, showing them respect, taking time with them, frequent visits to check on them;
  • Care of Sisters’ social needs including talk with them at meal time, visit them, stroll outside or in the hall, engage Sisters in conversations and activities;
  • Answer call lights;
  • Practice good hand-washing techniques after each patient contact;
  • Change bed linens and keep rooms neat and orderly. Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work environment;
  • Deliver meals and snacks to Sisters in the morning and evening;
  • Feed or assist Sisters to eat, giving them individual attention;
  • Give Range of Motion exercises when indicated;
  • Prepare Sisters for trips to doctors, bathing and dressing in clean clothing;
  • Clean Sisters desk tops, bedside cabinets in Sisters’ presence;
  • Empty and clean commodes or bedpans after use;
  • Rinse soiled c-pads and diapers as necessary;
  • Stock resident rooms and supply area as needed;
  • Report to Charge Nurse concerning each Sister;
  • Responsible for Sisters’ personal laundry;
  • Responsible for cleaning up food spills or accidents immediately; and
  • Other duties may be assigned by Administrator, Nursing Supervisor or Charge Nurse.

 

Requirements

Must be able to pass a drug test and background screening;

Lift without restrictions 25-50 pounds, bending, stooping;

Ability to work well with others and be able to multitask;

Dependability;

Have good communication skills;

Demonstrate compassion toward elderly;

Be able to take instructions from others; and

Must be able to work every other weekend.
